Sports Massage for Headaches & Migraines

Head aches and migraines are very common and cause so many problems for so many people, but often they are caused by simple muscular tension, which can be easily treated with sports massage, stretching and targeted exercise.

 Sports Massage for Muscle Tension

The muscular tension which is often the main cause of headaches and migraines, is itself usually caused by poor posture of the head, neck and shoulders. By sitting for hours everyday at a desk or driving a car, the shoulders tend to slump forward, putting strain on the muscles of the upper back. At the same time, the neck has to extend back further than it really likes in order to keep the head level, this puts strain on the muscles of the neck. Over time, all these muscles get very tight, potentially contstricting the nerves and blood vessels which travel through them and up into the head. Some of these muscles attach directly onto the outside, and even the inside, of the skull, and even the outer lining of the brain itself! Now you can see how muscular tension can cause headaches and migraines!

Sports Massage Can Help

After a detailed assessment, an individually tailored and targeted sports massage will reduce the muscular tension and improve blood flow through the muscles, allowing you to get back to being yourself and living your life. And to make sure you dont have to worry about headaches and migraines in the future, you will be educated about how to spot when your posture may be less than perfect, and what changes you can make at work and at home to ensure your posture is as good as it can be. You will also be given some highly effective exercises and stretches that you can do absolutely anywhere, that will help maintain a more optimal posture and keep the muscular tension to a minimum.
